Welcome to the network, Canterbury Aero Club

Established in 1928 at Wigram Airfield, the Canterbury Aero Club (CAC) has a long-standing reputation for aviation excellence in New Zealand. CAC Engineering was founded in the same year and has been an integral part of the organisation’s operations ever since.
Following the move to Harewood Airport (NZCH) in the 1950s, The establishment of IAANZ’s professional training division under CAC in 1993 significantly strengthened the organisation, with growing student numbers driving expansion across both flight training and engineering operations. As domestic and international student/cadet enrolments increased, so too did the scale and capability of CAC Engineering, supporting a larger and more active fleet.
With a strong foundation built around a Lycoming-powered fleet, CAC Engineering has continued to evolve alongside the academy’s growth. They are now excited to be expanding their fleet with the introduction of Rotax-powered aircraft to the fleet.
Joining the Rotax Authorised Service network marks an exciting new chapter for CAC Engineering. The team have successfully completed Rotax training in Melbourne, equipping them with the expertise required to support and maintain Rotax-powered aircraft to manufacturer standards.
This development enhances their engineering capability and reinforces their commitment to delivering high-quality, future-focused pilots and quality aviation maintenance services in Canterbury.
