August 23, 2021

Perfect weather conditions in Austria welcomed the first guests of the 2021’s Rotax Fly-In which took place from Aug 20th to 22nd 2021 at the Airfield in Wels. The perfect weather lasted the whole weekend and allowed for a comfortable get-together in the outside area of the airfield.

About 220 visitors came together to meet other pilots and flight enthusiasts from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Poland, Ro-mania, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia and The Netherlands.

“We are very proud that we had so many visitors from the different countries, who enjoyed to talk to fellow pilots and aircraft enthusiasts during this year’s Rotax Fly-In”, said Peter Oelsinger, Gen-eral Manager BRP-Rotax / Member of the Management Board, Vice President Sales, Marketing RPS-Business & Communications. “It is always a special atmosphere at this event and I am really excited that the guests took the opportunity to experience the demo flights in the different aircraft, to visit our company in Gunskirchen and to race with our E-Karts at the Rotax MAX Dome in Linz.”

The 130 airplanes and gyrocopters which arrived on Friday and Saturday in Wels were put in line at the airfield and ready to view and some of them ready to join for a flight for the visitors. But not only the demo-flights were a highlight of the event, a lot of people also took the opportunity to visit BRP-Rotax in Gunskirchen for a company tour through the production facilities or got an adrenalin kick booking the tandem-parachuting of the local skydiving school or competed at the flight simu-lator to win attractive prizes of the Rotax merchandise collection.

Additionally, the Rotax specialists were available at the Q&A sessions about the engine technolo-gies in detail about the injection technology of the Rotax 912 iS and 915 iS engines and gave an insight into the future with the AR/VR-technologies presented at the event. The pleasant tempera-ture still lasted in the evening hours and were perfect for the outside BBQ and for having some more drinks together in the very comfortable outdoor dining area of the Airfield Wels.
